The silencing Power of Sin
At the time Kings went to war, David was lured to the rooftop and was carried away by the spirit of lust according to 2 Samuel chapter 11. You see, Many believers are unaware of the fact that the sins and temptations they joke and play around with are satanic set-up and deliberate traps set by the enemy to dim their light, silence their voice and make them spiritually weightless and irrelevant.
Do you know that as King David fled from Absalom, Shimei, a man from Saul’s family, cursed him, hurled insults, and threw stones at him? The bible tells us in 2 Samuel 16:13 that:
"And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side over against him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust."
David could not speak to Him. This was the same David who had once stood against Goliath with bold proclamations of God’s power. Yet, burdened by the weight of his sin, he endured the abuse in silence, acknowledging that even this may have been allowed by God for in vs. 11 he said:
"Let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him." (2 Samuel 16:11, KJV).
David understood that a powerful person who attempts to speak when sin had ravaged his soul is no other but a noise maker.
My greatest joy however is that despite all of these, David’s story did not end in defeat. He was a genuinely broken man who refused to be silenced forever.
